"B.F.A. Group Exhibition"

December 2, 2021 to December 15, 2021

An opening reception will take place on December 2 at 7:00 p.m. in the KAB South lobby.

Allison Bentzen of West Des Moines, IA presents a printmaking exhibition titled "Behind the Mask." Currently, her work ties together text with geometric and organic shapes to express her journey with her mental health. Bentzen believes that abstract expressionism plays a key role in expressing one's emotions.

Mikayla Hennigar of Clarion, IA presents an exhibition titled "Layering Space." The exhibition utilizes work in ceramics and printmaking and ranges from functional mugs, sculptures, and wall installations.

Kami Lilly of Des Moines, IA presents an exhibition of performance art titled "Impressions of a Static Mind." Lilly is an interdisciplinary artist who utilizes video, installation, and printmaking to create work that explores the human condition through personal experiences. It is a collection of mixed-media installations and performances that investigate the constraining nature of living within the past.

Khadga Tamang of Akron, OH was born and raised in the Bhutanese Refugee Camp in Nepal, and this he states, "has always given me challenges in searching for my identity. This work is about me, but it is also the voices of millions of people who are searching for their identity. My paintings have repeated elements through which I want to represent the idea of the continuation of being an immigrant/refugee throughout human history. The abstract forms are a metaphorical reflection of the social and political trauma of being identity-less and are the expression of humanity, human emotions, pain, struggle, and the dilemmas of surviving without identity."

All events are free and open to the public. We encourage visitors to wear masks and socially-distance while attending Gallery events.
